About NCCDI

A Message from the Executive Director

Northern California Child Development, Inc. (NCCDI) is proud of the many vital programs and services we provide to Tehama County families and children. One of our resolutions for this year is to link to the Tehama County community. Our agency newsletter is one way in which we plan to do that. In addition to keeping you informed about the latest NCCDI updates and giving you information on our programs and services, we will also be sharing with you helpful information that you and your loved ones can use to improve your lives and stay safe, and be healthy and productive throughout the year.

I'd also like to thank the nearly 60 employees of NCCDI for their hard work and dedication over the past year. We've accomplished many things and I look forward to working with our employees, clients, partners, donors and the rest of the community to continue to make NCCDI strong for the children, individuals and families who depend on us. Together we can make a difference.

NCCDI History

In 1965, the Quad Community Agency serving Plumas, Modoc, Tehama, and Lassen Counties received a grant to provide services to children and families under the newly established Head Start Act. At that time there were no services for children provided in our area. With this funding, the first Head Start center in northern California began serving 20 children in the basement of a church in the little town of Tehama . In 1971 Quad Community Action Agency opened a center in Los Molinos and expanded to serve another 20 children. As the program grew, Quad Community Action Agency split and Northern California Child Development (NCCDI) was incorporated in order to administer family and community service programs to the residents of Tehama County .

NCCDI Today

With an annual operating budget of over 3 million and about 60 employees, NCCDI is the highest quality multipurpose nonprofit organization in Tehama County serving approximately 350 people each year. The Agency has five key program areas offered throughout the County. We make a special effort to limit the size of our programs to ensure a unique and high quality experience is provided to all. These programs include an array of services designed to meet the educational, cultural, social, health, and mental health needs of underserved residents including the working poor. Current programs include:
