Stepping Stones Classrooms

The Stepping Stones Head Start Preschool Model is unique in that it is a behavioral intervention approach designed for success. NCCDI strongly believes that children are dependent upon the adults who care for them. Children are not usually capable of making behavior changes without adult support. Therefore, we believe that Our Steps to Success comprehensive behavioral intervention program will support parents, caregivers and the child using the safe, important and belonging model. The program retains a Marriage Family Therapist who oversees the mental health component along with three classroom teachers who are trained Behavioral Specialists. The Stepping Stones Program is very successful in dealing with families who may feel they need extra support in getting behaviors under control.  Stepping Stones interventions include; family case management, behavior modification techniques, combination center/ home based pre-k model and low child to teacher ratios to ensure family child success. This unique behavioral model provides the five essential elements needed for family and child success.

  • Inclusive– includes all relevant adults in the assessment and planning for the child.
  • Holistic- we assess and incorporate information about the Childs, physical, social and emotional needs.
  • Relationship Based- children are absolutely dependent upon adults who care for them.  Their emotional and social development occurs within the primary relationships.
  • Developed Community Based Social Support Systems– We understand and incorporate the data showing that improving the families support system results in gains for children.
  • Natural Environments- services are delivered in the environments that the child spends time in.

We look forward to serving your family in this unique services model. You can contact me with any questions you may have regarding this program.
